Over the weekend, five skaters from Fuller Lake participated in the event. Starting on Thursday afternoon, Alex Jensen took to the ice in his Star 7 Men’s short program. Despite a wardrobe mishap that temporarily halted his routine, Jensen demonstrated remarkable resilience and executed a strong performance, securing an impressive second place finish. He managed to pick up his routine midway through and concluded the event with a Silver medal.
On Friday afternoon, Jensen continued his successful streak by earning another well-deserved second place in his Star 6 Men’s free skate event.
Newcomers Aria Neis and Brooke Thomsen competed for the first time in the Kelowna event. On Thursday each secured Bronze ribbons in the Star 2 section.
On Saturday, Tea Searle and Isla Fink rounded out the Fuller Lake contingent’s performances. Searle skated in the Star 7 Artistic, and Star 5 Free Skate while Fink competed in the Star 4 under 13 Free Skate event. Tea Searle placed 11th in her Star 7 Artistic and 34th in a crowded field of 68 at the Star 5 level. Isla Fink skated to a commendable 7th place finish.
As usual, the Fuller Lake Skating Club owes a debt of gratitude to our amazing Coach Kailee Bowman and her team, including Lorraine Francisty, Jessica Griffiths, and Kennedy Sha, without whom none of the skaters’ accomplishments would be possible. The FLSC also extends its thanks to the parents, grandparents and guardians of the skaters.
